After all the poor weather in the previous seven days congratulations must go out to GKN for producing their pitch in outstanding condition. A total credit to island football, well done !!
With the gale-force wind behind it was target practice for Ventnor in the first 45 minutes. Launching long balls deep into the GKN half we caught them napping on ten minutes when Kenny Cuthbert, of all people, broke away from the GKN back-line to calmly slot the ball past their clearly under-confident shot stopper.

From some 40/50 yards away the match official blindly called offside and disallowed what was clearly a 1-0 lead to Ventnor. With more wind & more rain causing havoc for both sides it was Jake Balantyne that broke the deadlock and opened the scoring on the half hour mark to lead 1-0.
Gates Reprimands Kenny Yet Again !!
Barely five minutes after our first goal went in we went 2-0 up courtesy of a Stuart Barbrook strike. In for the break at 2-0 and some would have thought the lead may be unassailable ........ Nobody told GKN !!
Academy Award For Baldy !!
Out for the second half, and into what was now clearly heavier wind Ventnor took a battering. Under the cosh for the whole of the second 45 we did well to limit GKN to just one goal in the first 25 minutes.
Blaize Franklin Defends Well !!
Going into the final few minutes, and still camped in our own half it was a Ventnor own goal from Dave Sampson that eventually leveled the scores up at 2-2. Final whistle thankfully went shortly after !!
Noted scouting was the Northwood manager checking out what we have to offer against his troops in the next week or two !!
A "poor" performance from a amateur match official who made a "Blatant" bad call disallowing a clearly on side Kenny Cuthbert opening goal inside of ten windswept minutes. A sentiment vocally felt by both sides standing outside the GKN pavilion. On a brighter note it was decent to see him keep his cards firmly in his pocket !!
