The Start

East Cowes Vics (Res) 1 Ventnor FC 3

In a crunch match against two of the leagues top sides, we knew this one was going to be tough, but surely not that tough !!

A tentative start was made by both teams in very poor conditions, with both having clear chances at either end in the opening 15 minutes. The match was turned on its head midway through the first half when "GC" grabed the opener finishing-off a clear cut opportunity in fine style.

Alas the lead didnt last long when Vic's grab a well guided equalizer from a corner a few minutes later to take the game into the break at a deserved looking 1-1.

Coming out into the driving rain in the second half we looked a different team to one that left the pitch just ten minutes earlier. Shortly into the second Chris Parsons carrying a niggling leg injury was replaced by Callum, but yet again it was ""Spence who broke the deadlock with a fine timed lunge !!

More wind, more rain and more "Spence" who netted his second of the game and his 5th in his last two outings, virtually wrapping the tie up.

We made another change late on which saw "H" make his long-awaited return to 1st team action, and within ten minutes of gracing the park had a golden opportunity to make it 4-1...but put it just wide !! Unlucky son....

With the rain still lashing down we dug deep for the last ten minutes to hold off a very "Spirited" Cowes side who continued to push forward till the final whistle.

Difficult to find our man of the match this week with so many strong performances including GC & Spence, but this week for his ultimate strength in midfield our 2nd "Man Of The Match" award goes to our captain "Liam Mullholland", who kept full control in the centre of the park.
