Past Match Report
Photos to follow, my Photoshop is fuckin around !!
Although only being told about the Newchurch game last week (3-0), the last time i clapped eyes on the team was in the GKN game when we were shocking.......!!
But today was different. Very different !!
We started the match with masses of confidence, which is unusual for us...... passing the ball well and always finding the man. Everyone and i mean everyone looked on top of their game.
First to make his mark on the game proper was last seasons "Player Of The Year" Jake Ballantyne who, after leaving the Cowes defence standing in awe smashed a lovely shot into the back of the Cowes net for a much deserved 1-0 lead.
Back to the centre-circle and we pressured them again from the start. Very tight marking kept Cowes, hemmed right in their own half for much of the first half hour !!
Next-up on the scoresheet was Charlie Urry who crashed in a fine shot with twenty to run in the first half. Our 2-0 lead at halftime actually took away from the fact of how dominant we were in the first period !!
Out for the second and more of the same......top class football. Defender Billy Thompson deserves a "Special" mention for such an authoritive role from way back on the pitch, on numerous occasions he showed "Class" to get us out of iminent danger !!
With nowhere to go for the dejected Cowes eleven it was former Cowes first teamer Gray Parsons who opened the scoring in the second half belting in a screamer from penalty distance, leaving the Cowes shot-stopper sprawled across his goal for 3-0....
With cries of "Easy" from the stand it was Harry Mulholland who was next to hit the net for 4-0 and virtually wrap the match up. Just to add insult to injury Charlie Urry slipped in our 5th and his second very late on for a "MASSIVE", and very much deserved victory !!
I could have named every player as this weeks "Website Man Of The Match" winner. "Timmy D" was our normal stalwart in goal. Defence couldnt get stronger with Billy, Aff and Si Crates keeping the opposition comfortably at bay. Midfield duo Liam Mulholland and Gray Parsons as always were brick-shithouses in the centre of the park. Strikeforce duo Harry & Charlie were top draw as usual with both finding the net "Again".
But it is Calum Trueman whom i have awarded the man-of-the-match to. Such was his dominance the Cowes players were choosing to not even bother trying to tackle him in the end !! Time after time during this match his name was called from the stands in recognition for his dominant play !! Well done mate, i'll see you before the Alton Town (Res) game next week to give you your £10 prize money.
Top notch performance this one boys. Very proud of the whole team whom should all be travelling to Hampshire next weekend for their efforts !!
Watch out Alton Town !!
